5 Join us to talk about the book Frankie Sparks and the Class Pet by
Megan Frazer Blackmore, then enjoy fun book related activities.
You will also learn about other titles on this year's Beverly Cleary
Children's Choice Award list and how you can participate in voting!
All participants will get a copy of the book to keep. You will receive
an email when your book is available for pickup from the library.

WINTER READING February 1-281 Book pick up during library open
hours
Teens in grades 6-12
�- When the sun sets early, the temperature drops, and it rains and
rains and rains, what do we do? We read! Teens, drop by the
library to pick out a free book and begin your#WinterReading
DEVOUR A BOOK celebration. With every book you complete, submit your page count
February 1-28 to enter a drawing for a $20 Powells gift card, and to join a virtual
team of other winter readers. Compete with other teams for the
highest page count and the chance to help create a library display.

Visit the library's backyard and view the mobile exhibit, DlSplace
Iwhich shines light on the widely unknown connection between
SHawaii and the Pacific Northwest. Learn about the people coming
from and through the Hawaiian Islands to the Pacific Northwest and
place the impact they have made on the culture and industry of both
locations starting as far back as 1787.

Decoding the Mysteries of Cats, or Why Cats
Do What They Do
Saturday, February 12 111 a.m. -noon
+ Adults I Virtual Program
Why does your cat treat you like a giant mouse, bite your ankles, or
wake you up in bed? Feline Behaviorist Stephen Quandt will
explain cat behavior from the perspective of the evolutionary and
adaptive forces that help shape their lives. This 60-minute
presentation will conclude with a Q&A. For the meeting invitation,

Volunteering
Thank You to MLK Weekend Volunteers
Thank you to our volunteer participants of MLK Weekend of
Service! Four volunteers helped weed the front grounds of the
library early Saturday morning. Between Sunday and Monday, 12
volunteers helped with our annual Magazine Rollover Project,
assembling Take and Make bags, shifting materials in Fiction, and
pulling patron requests.
It was a great MLK Weekend of Service—thank you, volunteers!
