Yes,we are doing a unit replacement. I have attached a picture of the current unit. You can see the top of the unit by the
guy on the roof.This picture was taken on the SW Bonita Rd sidewalk directly in line with the RTU.
The replacement unit is similar in height.Would this require a screen if the unit can already be seen?

I would like to clarify a few things. It sounds like you are replacing an existing unit, correct? If so, is the current unit
visible from the sidewalk/parking lot?
To answer your questions, we would be concerned with the nearest public sidewalks on Sequoia Parkway and Bonita
Road. I-5 would not be considered as part of the screening standards.

Good Morning,
I was recently putting together permit documents for a rooftop replacement job we just received. I have attached an
image of the RTU and I believe the code says it cannot be visible from the sidewalk.
1. Which sidewalks count for the screening?The front of this building faces I-5 and has no sidewalk. Does the
sidewalk all the way North on SW Bonita RD count?
2. If existing mechanical equipment blocks the view from the sidewalk. Would this work for screening?The view
would be the same as before because this unit does sit behind other pieces of equipment. I will be taking photos
this weekend to verify.
