NPO #3 - MINUTES
THE MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER AT 9: 26 P.M.
PRESENT: PORTER, BISHOP, FROUDE, HANSEN, MORTENSEN, SMITH
ABSENT: KLINGELE
1. THE APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES FOR THE JUNE 6, 1990 NPO #3 MEETING
HAS BEEN POSTPONED AS MINUTES WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
2. DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING SIGN CODE EXCEPTION SCE 90-0403 -
MARTIN BROTHERS SIGNS, INC. IT WAS AGREED THAT THE BUILDINGS
ARE SIGNIFICANTLY VISIBLE AS THEY ARE LAVED OUT. ANOTHER POINT
DISCUSSED WAS OUR PREVIOUS DENIAL FOR A SIGN SIZE INCREISE ON
OTHER PROPERTY ALONG HIGHWAY 99. A MOTION WAS MADE THAT THE
APPLICANT SHOULD STAY WITHIN THE REGULATION SIGN CODE
STANDARDS AND THE EXCEPTION SHOULD NOT BE GRANTED.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
3. OTHER BUSINESS
MORTENSEN EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THE REMOVAL OF SEVERAL LARGE,
ESTABLISHED TREES NEAR 99W ON WALNUT STREET. WHILE REALIZING
ROAD IMPROVEMENTS ARE CURRENTLY BEING UNDERTAKEN, WE HOPE
TREE REMOVAL WILL BE KEPT TO THE VERY MINIMUM.
FROUDE ENCOURAGED OUR ATTENDANCE AT THE WESTERN BYPASS STUDY -
OPEN ROUSE - BEING HELD ON JULY 26, 1990, IN ALOHA.
DISCUSSION WAS HELD ON THE JOINT TIGARD-BEAVERTON CITY COUNCIL
MEETING HELD ON 7-9-90. SMITH CALLED COUNCILOR JOHNSON ON
7-9-90 TO EXPRESS THE ISSUE OF THE MURRAY BLVD. EXTENSION AND
STRESSED THIS CONNECTION SHOULD NOT BE MADE.
NO MEMBER OF NPO #3 ATTENDED THE ,DINT MEETING.
FROUDE POINTED OUT THAT THE BEEF BEND ROUTE IS ALL IN RURAL
AREA AND THAT THIS POSSIBLE ROUTE MAY CARRY SAME PROBLEMS
AS BYPASS HAS EXPERIENCED. SHE EMPHASIZED THE IMMEDIATE
NEED FOR PLANNING DETAILS FROM ALL LOCAL JURISDICTIONS
INVOLVED.
DISCUSSION WAS ALSO HELD ON THE CONTINUAL CONCERN OF GROWTH
AND TRANSPORTATION ISSUES AND PROBLEMS IN THE WESTSIDE AREA.
