Per our discussion with Taylor Morrison, it's our understanding that 2x8 deck ledgers were installed at locations where the plans show 2x10 deck ledgers. Based on our review of the plans, 2x8 deck ledgers are an acceptable substitution for 2x10's provided the deck ledger fasteners are installed as noted in the "Typical Deck Framing" detail (18/S9.2) and that no portion of the deck joist hanger shall be below the bottom of the deck ledger. Please note that the architectural plans may require different deck ledger sizes depending on the type of deck used. 51 RUC TURg4 ED PRpF (/7GlN ON F. Note:This bulletin does not approve the use of a 2x8 ledger for use in a spaced decking condition. In a spaced decking condition a 2x10 ledger shall be used per the original 12D/D6 spaced decking detail.
