LIBRARYNEWS FROM THETIGARD
Library Hours are Expanding!
Beginning Monday, July 5, Tigard Public Library will be open to the public
• Monday-Saturday 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
• Sunday 12-4 p.m.
Limited curbside holds pick-up will continue to be available during open hours.
When you visit the library:
• Face coverings are optional while using library services
• Respect others' personal space
• Sanitize your hands before browsing
Summer Reading for All
Summer Reading is in full swing at Tigard Public Library! Nearly 1,000 kids, teens, and adults have
already registered.
Summer Reading for Kids & Teens:
Visit the library to pick-up your summer reading log and a free book through Saturday, July 31, then
set your goal and read whatever you choose!
Bring your completed log back to the library between Thursday, July 15 and Tuesday,August 31 to
pick out a free book of your choice!

Summer Reading for Adults:
Sign up to get a free book donated by the Friends of the Tigard Library! You'll also receive weekly
emails with book suggestions and other opportunities to win prizes through WCCLS.
Adults can sign up online, but make sure to visit the library to get your free book!
As you read, watch, or listen this summer, let us know what you think by completing raffle tickets.
Return the completed tickets to the Adult Reference Desk throughout the summer to be entered to win
weekly drawings for gift certificates to local Tigard businesses!
Prize drawings for adults will take place weekly until August 31.
Tigard Public Library's Summer Reading Program is made possible by the
Ready to Read Grant and Friends of the Tigard Public Library.

Virtual Magic Show
Tuesday, July 13 12:30-3:30 p.m.
Kids & Families
Magician Jeff Evans brings his blend of clean comedy and amazing
magic along with tons of interaction where everyone has the best
seat in the house! Participants are invited to have a deck of cards
- ready so you can participate in a magic trick from home.

Teens
Hands-on Henna
Thursday, July 29 13:30-5:30 p.m.
Teens in grades 6-12
Join local artist Wendy Rover for a short presentation detailing the
history, science, cultural traditions, and safety practices of henna
art. During this virtual workshop, Wendy will teach the building
blocks of henna design so you can create your own temporary
body art.

Summer Teen Volunteering is back for
Summer 2021!
Teens between the ages of 12 and 18 are welcome to volunteer
with the library. Volunteer opportunities can be completed remotely
and on the volunteer's own time. For more information, visit the

Mason Bee House
I y
Make life a little easier for these hard-working helpers by creating a
Mason bee house. Register beginning Monday., July 5, then stop by
the library during open hours to pick up your supply kit.
Beeswax Wrap
Make your own reusable beeswax wrap and eliminate some single-
use plastic from your kitchen! Register beginning Sunday, July 11,
then stop by the library during open hours to pick up your supply
kit.
DIY Mini Decorative Beehive
Live event Saturday, July 17 110 - 11:30 a.m.
Join from the comfort of your own home to craft your very own
miniature decorative beehive.
Register now to attend, then stop by the library during open hours
to pick up your supply kit.

Volunteer Spotlight

Thanks to Tigard Library Landscaping Volunteers!
The Library's Landscaping Volunteers are this month's Volunteer Spotlights! The library hosted seven
volunteer events between April and June 2021. There were two weeding parties and five planting
parties where over twenty-five volunteers worked in the front grounds of the library to weed, dig, move
rocks, and plant. Thank you to all our Landscaping Volunteers for all the hard work you contributed!
Abby, Alondra, Anahi, Bob, Brandon, David, Ella, Emanuel, Isabel, James, Judy, Karolina, Kim,
