TV Time?
Did you know that the Library now has popular TV shows, both
recent and classic? From Downton Abbey and Hell on Wheels to
Laverne and Shirley, who needs streaming? Okay, that may be a
bit over the top. But if you're used to reserving your favorite show
from another library, climb the stairs or take a ride on the elevator
to the AV Lounge on the second floor. Look for the cases with the
green labels at the end of the Blu-ray section. You might pick up a
gem that you can't find anywhere else.
Charge It!
i
You may have noticed orange cones and red and yellow tape in the
parking lot in December. No, it wasn't some bizarre holiday
decoration. It was Progress! The City installed two new super
chargers for electric vehicles replacing the previous one.

WHO ' S THAT?
Jaime Hutchison
Circulation Supervisor Jaime Hutchison has worked at the Tigard Library for 18
years. She began as a circulation assistant and now schedules and supervises
1120 awesome Circulation staff." There's a good chance that you have met over the
Circulation counter or at the Welcome Desk. Jaime also serves as Tigard's
representative on the Washington County Cooperative Library Services circulation
committee.
1.Why did you want to work in a library?
Growing up I wanted a job working with children, so I thought, "I'll
work at the Library and read books to kids!" Turns out, that's not
' necessarily what working at the Library is. I was attending school
and thought this would be a great job to have to make a little
money to pay tuition. From there, I just fell in love with the job and
our Library, and I never left.
2.What do you enjoy most about the job? Why?
I most enjoy working with and helping patrons and staff. It's
wonderful when you're able to help someone find what they're
looking for. The pleasant conversations and getting to know our
patrons and watch them grow up is amazing. My secret love is
scheduling. I'm not an organized person, but I love scheduling and
putting everything in its place.
3. Describe a memorable moment on the job.Why did it have
an effect on you?
The most memorable moment I've had was the opening of our new
Library building. It was such an exciting time, planning and seeing
the building take shape, having patrons and their children help us
"cart"over books in wagons and strollers. Watching the community
enjoy and explore the new building was wonderful and gave me
such a sense of pride.
4. What do you like to do when you're not at the library?
I like to play video games--both retro and current generation--with
my husband Chris, and knit and stay home and snuggle with my
cats, Glenda and Saffron.
5.What do you like to read? Name one or two books that have
had an impact on you. Why?
I like to read non-fiction and historical fiction. As for books that
made an impact on me, I'd have to go with a set of Care Bear

books that taught the virtues of caring and compassion. My
grandma and grandpa bought me one every year for my birthday. I
couldn't wait for them to come in the mail. When I grew older, I
gave them away and have spent the last few years trying to find
them again. The lessons in them and the art style were so
appealing, not to mention the good life lessons that I learned.
