01/11/1972 - Minutes Tigard Water District 307th Regular Meeting January 11, 1972 PRESENT: Clarence F. Nicoli, Chairman John M. Weid, Secretary Roger W. Cowell, Treasurer R. Verne Wheelwright, Commissioner Kenneth W. Baines, Attorney Robert E. Santee, Administrator — Mary C. George, Clerk-Bookkeeper The meeting was called to order at 7:40 PM by Chairman Nicoli. The motion was made to approve the minutes of the last meeting, as written. Motion carried. The motion was made to accept the apparent lowest bid for the purchase of a booster pump to be installed near Coe Manufacturing Co. when a response has been received from all bidders, as there was only one bid received prior to this meeting. Motion carried. A motion was made to adopt a resolution to approve a letter to Metzger Water District requesting that a 10"FM meter be installed prior to June 30, 1973 on the 12" fire main which serves the industrial area on S.W. 72nd Ave. Motion carried. The oath of office was given to R. Verne Wheelwright, reelected commissioner, position #1, by Kenneth W. Baines, Attorney. Election of officers for the 1972 year was held. John M. Weid was nominated for the position of Chairman. There being no other nominations, the nominations were closed. Mr. Weid was elected by a vote of three with one abstaining. Lester L. Rawls was nominated for the position of Secretary. There being no other nominations, the nominations were closed. Mr. Rawls was unanimously elected. Mr. Clarence F. Nicoli was nominated for the position of Treasurer. There being no other nominations, the nominations were closed. Mr. Nicoli was unanimously elected. Motion was made to approve the payment of vouchers. Motion carried. Motion was made to adopt the resolution to approve water rate increases as proposed, effective April 20, 1972. A public hearing will be held at 6:30 PM, March 14, 1972. The commissioners agreed to commit the Tigard Water District to 257. of the cost of installation of a large transmission main from the city limits of Portland to S.W. Tiedeman Ave. via Metzger and Progress water districts, subject to the provisions that a 24" main be installed the entire route and that this district become a direct user of Bull Run water. The total cost to Tigard Water District would be approximately $75,000. Roger W. Cowell submitted his resignation effective this date, due to his transfer to Seattle,Washington. It was moved to accept his resignation with regret. Motion carried. -4411", The appointment of a new commissioner to replace Mr. Cowell was discussed. Motion was made to invite Mr. Hugh Brown to rejoin the Board for the remainder of Mr. Cowell's term. Motion carried. It was moved to adjourn at 9:00 PM. Motion carried.
