04/11/1972 - Minutes Tigard Water District 310th Regular Meeting April 11, 1972 PRESENT: John M. Wied, Chairman "` Clarence F. Nicoli, Treasurer Verne Wheelwright, Commissioner Hugh A. Brown, Commissioner (at 8:10 p.m. ) Robert E. Santee, Administrator Kenneth W. Baines, Attorney John P. Miller, Foreman The meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by Chairman Wied. The motion was made to approve the minutes of the last meeting, as written. Motion carried. Visitors: None, except members of budget committee who arrived during meeting. The motion was made to pay the vouchers. Motion carried. The Administrator was advised to take all necessary action to expedite the installation of the 24" main from the Portland city limits. The board expressed a willingness to pay the entire cost of the main, if necessary, but pipe construction should start immediately if an agree- ment on purchasing water from Portland can be arranged. The Administra- tor was instructed to communicate with Portland Bureau of Water Works regarding such an agreement. The board agreed to meet with the Board ir,,,. of Commissioners, Progress Water District, at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, April 17, 1972 to discuss cost-sharing proposals for the 24" main. A motion was made to table a request by Washington County Chamber of Commerce for the Tigard Water District to participate in the cost of a feasibility and financial study to implement a program in which Wash- ington County would wholesale water to districts and cities. Motion carried. Because of the substantial savings involved in construction costs, Ken Baines recommended and the board agreed to build the new reservoir at #3 (135th and Fern Street) on a hiatus which is located between two parcels of land owned by the Tigard Water District. It was moved to approve the May 20th billing at the existing (old) water rates. June 20th shall be the 1st full 2-month billing on the new rates. Motion carried. Ken Baines was requested to prepare a legal document, for the chairman' s signature at the next regular meeting, advising Metzger Water District that, effective June 30, 1973, Tigard Water District would terminate that portion of the contract of January 11, 1967 in which the Tigard Water District agreed to provide water to real property located within Metzger unless an appropriate meter were installed. This pertains to the unmetered water for fire protection to the industrial area on S. W. 72nd Avenue. Motion was made to adjourn at 8:24 p.m. Motion carried. dt
