TIGARD WATER DISTRICT
TIGARD OREGON
A special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of this District
was held Friday, February44, 1955 in the office of the Janoe and Bushnell
Construction C0, 1 Tigard, Oregon.
President C.L.Osborne stated that the purpose of this special meet-
ing related to the acquisition by the District of property in Tigard,
Oregon, described as Lot 29 and one-half of lot 30, Morin's Addition,
now Vacated. It was pointed out that the Tigard Business Men's Club, in
order to provide a site for a fire station, contracted to purchase said
property for *2250.00 and that there had been paid on account of said
purchase price the sum of $450.00. That it is planned to erect a build-
ing upon said property for a fire station and that upon its erection,
the Tualatin Rural Fire Protection District, the boundaries of which
Dristrict, encompass Tigard, will house a fire truck and equipment there
tn, thus to provide better fire fighting and fire protection service now
served Tigard.
It was further pointed out that this District needs an office build-
ing centrally located in Tigard, and that this property would provide a
suitable location for such office. That the Tigard Business Men's Club
through its president, has agreed that if this District would pay the
total purchase price, to - wit: 0250.00 for said property, that it
would:
(a) Assign all its interest in and to said contract of purchase of
said property there in described to this District.
(b) Use the *450.00 here to fore paid on account of construction
costs for said proposed building.
(c) Join with other individuals, groups and organizations in a
drive necessary to raise funds to erect a fire station building, such
building to contain adequate space there in for offices for this Dist-
rict, not less than 225 square feet.
Extensive discussion was had between the Commissioners as to the
feasibility of the proposal. It was pointed out that the District had
adequate cash fundson hand to pay the purchase price. It was further
pointed out that this district has enjoyed substantial growth in recent
years and that additionalFgvowth would occur in the fore see able future.
Thar' centrally located office; space for offices was a present need.
Such office space provide a location for all books, records and accounts
of the Dristrict, which are now kept in the home of the clerk or the
superintendent.
Where up on, the following resoIution$were made, seconded and un-
animously adopted:r
RES0L�ED: That this District purchase for $2250.00 lot 29, and
one-half of lot 30, Morin's Addition, now vacated, Washington County,
Oregon, provided:
(a) That the Tigard Business Men's Club will assign all its interest
as buyer of said property in its contract absolutely to this District.
(b) That the District can obtain merchantable title to said property
free of exception upon the payment of the purchase price.
(c) That the Tualatin Rural Fire Protection District pass a res-
. olution agreeing upon the erection of a suitable building upon said
property to provide and house in said building a fire truck and fire
fighting equipment, there by providing better fire fighting and fire
protection service to Tigard.
(d) That the Tigard Business Men's Club agree to use the $450.00
here to fore paid towards the purchase of said prperty, for and on account
of the costs of labor and materials in the erectionof a building on said
property.
(e) The commissioners of this district are satisfied that in-
dividuals, groups and organizations will campaign fur, solicit and raise
funds necessary to provide for the cost of labor and material to erect
a fire station building on said property with in the calender year 1955.
FUTHER RESOLVED: That up on the acquisition of said property
that the Tigard Business Men's Club be authorized to receive and hold
donations, solicited and raised by individuals, groups and organizations
for the purpose of erecting a fire station buiding and such funds be
deposited in the Tigard Branch of the United States National Bank to be
expended on authorization of the Tigard Fire Council.
FUTHER RESOLVED: That the Board of Commissioners of this
District, together with representives of the Tualatin Rural Fire Pro-
tection District and such other individuals, groups and organizations
shall adopt suitable plans and specifications for the building to be
erected upon said property and that funds raised for this purpose be
expended by the Tigard Business Men's Club for labor and materials on
authorization of the Tigard Fire Council : and
FUTHER RESOLVED: That this District be and is authorized to
negotiate and enter into a lease with the Tualatin Rural Fire Protection
District, leasing said property and contemplated building to said Fire
District for a term and period of 99 years, reserving a rental of $1.00
per year, and providing, among other things the following specifications
and conditions, the failure of which constitutes the provisions for
cancellation of said lease;
(A) Maintenance of said building and grounds surrounding the same
shall be the responsibility of the lessee.
(b) Authorization to this Dristrict, as leasor, from time to time
to acquire as needed additional office space with in said building or
addition thereto, at the option of this District, the cost of said
remodeling or addition to be born by this Water District.
(c) Lessee's agreement to provide a Fire Truck and Fire Equipment
to be housed in said building and to maintain same.
(d) Reservation to the Tigard Water District and the Tigard Fire
Company for the use of said building as a community hall.
(e) Establishment of an independent Fire District embodying Tigard
and its environs separate from the Tualatin Rural Fire Protection
District.
(fi The incorporation of Tigard as a municipality.
(g) The annexation of Tigard by an incorporated municipality.
(h) The acquisition of said property by any corporation having
powers of eminent domain.
There being no futher business the meeting adjourned.

nA special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Tigard

the Tigard Transit Mix Company, Tigard, Oregon. All of the Commissioners
were present in person.
President Osborne stated that the purpose of this special meeting
related to the acquisition by the District of property in Tigard,
Oregon described as Lot 29 and one-half of Lot 30. Morin's Addition,
now vacated. It was pointed out that the Tigard Business Men's Club,
in order to provide a site for a fire station, contracted to purchase
said property for $2250.00 and that there has been paid on account of
said purchase the sum of $450.00. That it is planned to erect a
building upon said property for a fire station and that upon its erection
the Tualatin Fire District, the boundaries of which district, encompass

purpose costs of labor and material during construction; and

powers of eminent domain.
