TIGARD WATER DISTRICT
Feb. 19, 1948
Meeting called to order by Chairman Cook.
Meeting called because of urgency of the situation. Waterworks Supplies
Company to have a carload of pipe during the week and the Board is faced
with the necessity of doing something about getting water to Mr. Chandler
and to Gaarde Ave.
Mr. MacIntyre of Maclntyre & Rosebraugh was asked to give figures on how
much pipe we need and how much it will cost us to lay the pipe . Waterworks
Supplies will have 3" or 4" pipe in 10 or 12 gauge.
Mr. Maclntyre recommended 4" pipe all around and stated requirements for
pipe are as follows:
For Gaarde Ave. - 2700 feet, plus 800 feet down Huested Ave.
For Chandler project - 1500 feet from south line or 1540 feet from
north line of Gaarde Ave. to Chan dle r
property line.
It will take approximately 360 feet of 6" Pram McDonald Ave. to
Gaarde Ave.

Estimated cost from Mr. Maclntyre quoted by him as follows:
4" pipe from Gaarde Ave. to Chandler Cannery-
$1.60 per foot - 1540 ft. $2,464.00
4" pipe from Highway 99W along Gaarde Ave. -
$1.60 per foot - 2700 ft. 4,320.00 v
6" pipe from McDonald Ave. to Gaarde Ave.
$2.00 -per fpot - 320 ft. 640.00 r
3" pipe from Lincoln Avegbo "pipe near Greenburg 1,080.00
Estimate for total job - approx. :$504.00.
Prices on pipe from Waterworks Engineering were as follows:
6" - 10 gauge D&W $1.49 net
6" - OD Couplings - dipped 4.08 each
4" - OD 10 gauge DEM - 401 lengths $96.58 per 100 ft. net.
4" - OD Dresser Couplings $2.88 each.
FOB Portland, Oregon
We were advised that we should put in 4" pipe in order to get a better fire
,insurance rating. Life oN pipe quoted apoximately 60 years.

Present: Chairman Cook, Board Members Wilde, Selliken aid Barber,
Attorney Hathaway, Supt. Blevins, Mrs. Hall.
Absent: Board Member Anicker
Meeting called to order by Chairman Cook.
Minutes of regular meeting of Jan. 14th approved as read.

Discussion regarding Gaarde Ave. project including getting map of
layout, determining size of pipe line, cast of pipe, etc. The
Gaarde Ave. people have indicated they are willing to help on the
cost, recovering part of the cost from the water used. The name
of Syd Benedict was proposed as an engineer who could lay out and
help us in connection with this project. Mr. Benedict is a City
Engineer for Portland.
Motion made and carried that the Chairman and the Attorney invite Syd
Benedict to lunch and discuss the problem of laying mains along Gaarde
Ave. in an endeavor to obtain professional assistance from the Bureau
of Water Works, Portland.
Motion made and carried that we adjourn, at 9:40 p.m.
