The effort allowed officers to proactively monitor Tigard roadways for DUlls and other traffic safety violations. As a result of this campaign, Tigard Police: • made 3 DUII arrests • issued 2 speeding citations • issued 3 citations for driving while suspended • issued 8 other citations for various infractions • gave 20 warnings Officers who participated in this campaign worked a mix of regular hours and overtime for a total of 35 hours. The overtime was made possible thanks to a High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) campaign grant from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is distributed by the Oregon Department of Transportation and managed by Oregon Impact. With DUII arrests taking 2-4 hours to process between the traffic stop, sobriety tests and jail transport, these additional resources allow officers to focus their efforts on stopping dangerous drivers, especially during the holidays when impaired driving typically increases. Participation in the HVE enforcement campaign is one way the Tigard Police Department works to improve safety along our roadways for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers. Page 1 of 1
