Tigard Police to Participate in DLIII Safety Enforcement
From December 18'through New Year's Eve,Tigard Police will join other Oregon law
enforcement agencies in a high-visibility enforcement (HVE) holiday campaign called "Drive Sober
or Get Pulled Over," aimed at stopping drivers who are under the influence of intoxicants.
This project is made possible thanks to federal grant funding for overtime hours from the National
Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which are distributed by the Oregon Department of
Transportation and managed by Oregon Impact.
From January 1, 2020 through December 10, 2020,Tigard Police officers made 106 DUII arrests.
These cases mark a significant danger to everyone on the road and often involve crashes, injury or
property damage. They are entirely preventable.
As the holiday season approaches,we encourage people to celebrate responsibly. Drivers who
choose to celebrate with alcohol or other substances should pick a designated driver, call a cab or
make other arrangements for the safety of themselves and everyone else on the road.
