Material type, sample number, time, sample location, and approximate quantity of material were recorded at the time of sampling. Each sample was placed in a sample container labeled with a unique sample number and submitted for analysis to SanAir Technologies Laboratory (SanAir), Powhatan, VA, a National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) accredited laboratory, under chain of custody (COC) documentation. Samples were analyzed in accordance with EPA Method 600/R-93-116, using Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM)with dispersion staining, and using visual area estimation to determine percent asbestos content. This method allows for the identification of the primary types of asbestos used in building materials. Based on the results of the laboratory testing, lead was not identified in the paint chip samples that were collected by AAI: NOTE: If any suspect materials are encountered during demolition that are not reflected in this survey, the material should not be disturbed until further sampling can determine whether it is asbestos-containing. Materials that test positive for asbestos should be removed in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations by a licensed asbestos abatement contractor prior to demolition activities that will impact them. The ODEQ requires that a copy of the survey report be kept onsite during the demolition or renovation project and during the project, an appropriately trained person should be on onsite for the potential discovery of ACMs. For detailed regulatory requirements in specific situations, AAI should be consulted, or the applicable regulations should be reviewed.
