General Installation Notes:
1. System(s)to be Active Sub-Soil/Sub-Slab Depressurization (ASD).
2. All installations to comply with EPA protocols.
3. Exhaust fan(s) to be located so to be assessable for installation, maintenance, and future
replacement, and in a vertical run of vent pipe.
4. More than one system may be needed for the building.
5. Typical fan specs:
Continuously running electric, inline duct exhaust fan(s) shall be used.
21W-150W, 60 hz, 115V, 1.5 amps, 60 cycle.
6. Vent piping shall be schedule-40 PVC or ABS, with a minimum 3-inch diameter.
7. Vent termination to be a minimum of 12 inches above the roof line/eave, as well as 2 feet
above and/or 10 horizontally from any intake into living space.
8. All vent pipe joints/connections to be sealed and air-tight.
9. Vent pipe shall not have low points, and shall be sloped so as to allow condensate within
pipes to flow back to the sub-soil suction point(s).
10. Electrical disconnect for any exhaust fan shall be located within sight of the fan unit.
Electrical power supply for any fan unit to be drawn from un-switched building power.
11. Provide proper flashing at all roof penetrations.
12. When reasonably possible, a manometer(air pressure gauge) shall be installed on or near
the negative side of the vent system, and shall be a visible and/or audible mechanism that
is simple to read and interpret.
13. All penetrations through concrete slab flooring, or concrete perimeter foundations, whall
be sealed as is reasonable.
14. All vent pipes penetrating through fire-rated walls and ceilings shall have a properly rated
fire collar and/or equivalent.
15. All system components to be adequately secured: vent pipe every 8 feet vertically (min),
and every 4 feet horizontally (min).
16. Systems shall be clearly labeled "Radon Reduction System" or the like.
System shall also be labeled as to:
a. Dated activated.
b. Installers name.
c. Information on how to contact installer.
