Radon Mitigation System Installation wwwsoilsolutionsenvironmental.com
December 19, 2019
Site Address: 11787 SW Wilton Ave
Tigard,OR 97233
National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) licensed Soil Solutions personnel will design and
install the radon mitigation system at the above referenced home. The system will be designed
and installed in compliance with radon specific Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)
standards. Soil Solutions will obtain the required mechanical permit and install the system to
meet local building codes.
Soil Solutions will leave the existing polyethylene vapor barrier membrane in place in the
crawlspace and patch/install new 6 mil vapor barrier membrane where necessary, and at the
discretion of Soil Solutions NRPP licensed personnel. Corrugated perforated pipe will be
installed under the membrane and will be vented outside through a boring drilled in the north
crawlspace wall. An in-line radon reduction suction fan will be connected to the suction piping
and mounted on the outside of the home. The discharge piping will be routed up the north
exterior wall and will terminate around and above the roof eave. If requested, Soil Solutions
will also install new 6 mil vapor barrier in the crawlspace on top of the existing sheeting for
an additional fee of$450.0.0.
White Schedule 40 PVC piping material will be used for all suction and exhaust plumbing unless
otherwise specified. A manometer will be installed on the suction pipe to monitor the operation
of the system. The system will be appropriately labeled and the client will be provided with
system documentation and operating instructions.
Soil Solutions will contract a licensed electrician will connect the radon mitigation fan to an
existing electrical circuit. The electrician will also install a power disconnect switch on the
exterior wall of the home next to the radon fan. The licensed electrician will obtain the required
electrical permit.
Once the radon system is operational, there is potential for combustion appliances to back draft
into the home. As a precaution,we will install a carbon monoxide detector in the home. If it is
determined that combustion appliances back draft following the system installation, the client is
responsible to hire a HVAC (heating, ventilation, air conditioning) contractor to address back
drafting issues, and due to safety concerns, the radon mitigation system cannot be operated until
remedied. It should also be noted that whenever combustion appliances are replaced or installed
in the home in the future, discussion of back drafting issues should be addressed with the HVAC
contractor.
After the system has been activated, Soil Solutions will perform a short-term continuous monitor
measurement to determine the system's initial effectiveness and will make system modifications,
