We conducted a geotechnical engineering study for the project. The findings of that study are presented in a report titled Report of Ceotechnical Engineering Services;New Tigard Self-Storage Facility; 12740 SW Pacific Highway; Tigard, Oregon, dated May 19, 2016. A soldier pile shoring system has been installed and the basement partially excavated. Standing water is present in the excavation. The recommendations in the May 19, 2016 geotechnical engineering report remain applicable with the exceptions noted below. BACKFILL RECOMMENDATIONS We recommend that the excavation be backfilled with structural fill as recommended in Section 6.5 of the May 19, 2016 geotechnical engineering report. Fine-grained soil such as the on-site native soil is acceptable for use as structural fill. This type of soil is sensitive to small changes in moisture content and may be difficult, if not impossible, to compact adequately during wet weather or when its moisture content is more than a few percentage points above optimum. The fill should be placed in lifts and compacted to not less than 92 percent of the maximum dry density, as determined by ASTM D 1557. Imported granular material may be required for the first few lifts to establish a firm base upon which to place subsequent lifts of fill, particularly where it is wet. 9450 SW Commerce Circle,Suite 300 I Wilsonville,OR 97070 I 503.968 8787 www.geodesigninc.com Granular pads as described in the geotechnical engineering report are not required beneath footings provided there is more than 4 feet of structural fill beneath the footing subgrade. We recommend that the shoring system be removed to a depth of 4 feet beneath footings and 2 feet below slabs on grade. ♦ ♦ ♦ Please call if you have questions concerning this letter. Spot grades for the door landing have been eliminated and the contours adjusted accordingly. Sheet C3.0: The storm lateral for the basement foundation drain has been removed from the east side of the building. The lateral previously connected to the storm system between Catch Basins 6 & 8. Architectural & Structural: Revisions included in the revised Architectural sheets dated 2017-11-10 include the following as well as corresponding changes to the Structural (55F) and Metal Building Systems (Kiwi-II) drawings and supporting calculations: Sheet A2.10, et al.: The entire basement level has been eliminated thus this sheet has been eliminated from the drawing set. Associated section drawings, enlarged stair sections and enlarged stair plans, etc. have been modified. Sheet A2.20, et al.: Basement egress stair previously located between grids 14-16 and A & B has been eliminated. This stair only served as egress from the basement level—its G-\Projects-Current\15115-133 StorQuest Tigard OR1CorrespondenceVClient\2017-11-22_StorQuest-Tigard_Basementarn Summary_Updated_15-133.docx Page 1 of 3 agelln insee 42S-185 43 11 Fax 425-M 4303 t,i ,Sr;:l :i L, yNt7 rwthsr;rcacl,"AA 9S052 elimination does not impact the upper levels. Previous exterior stair from this omitted stairwell at the west wall has been eliminated. Storage has been reintroduced in place of the omitted stair on Level 1. Corresponding revisions have been made to `North Stair#102' k as it no longer needs to extend to the Basement level. The 'North Elevator' machine room has been brought up from the previous Basement level and located at grid 'L' between grids 16 & 17. • Exterior elevations, Section drawings, enlarged plans, schedules and relevant details have been revised according to the above changes. • Storage lockers (from 8' AFF to bottom side of Level 2 slab-on-deck) have been added throughout Level 1. Reference sheet KS-3. Storage lockers are non- structural items and will be properly addressed in fire sprinkler design as a deferred submittal. • Updated foundation structural calculations related to these changes have been provided by SSF and Kiwi-II Here is a listing of impacted and revised/replaced sheets within the compiled resubmittal drawing set: A0.10 CO.1 C4.0 C1.0 C4.1 C2.0 C4.2 C3.0 Please note that the Civil "C"sheets were not included in the original Building Permit set as they had been approved under a separate Site Work Permit(S1T2016-00013)but have been included in this revision submittal per the City reviewer's request.
