04/20/2017 - Summary Transportation PBS Advisory Committee Meeting Notes Pedestrian-Bicycle advisory Sub-committee (PBS) Meeting Date Thursday, April 20th, 2017 5:00 to 6:30 PM Location Red Rock Room, City Hall, Tigard PBS Members: Jen Vasicek; Steve Boughton, Basil Christopher (notes); City staff- Mike McCarthy, Anna Dragovich, and Buff Brown Visitors: Joe Lyons Item # (Time) AGENDA Items with Meeting Notes # 1 (5:10) Welcome and Introductions Round the table introductions. # 2 (5:13) Review and Approve Meeting Notes March meeting minutes accepted by those in attendance. NOTE: PBS is not required to approve its notes/minutes. # 3 (5:09) Member and Guest Communications/Announcements Steve Belding—applying for grant funds to support/create projects to foster community connection to "place making". Buff has provided a link to grant program information. Taste of Tigard — Mike shared notice of June 17th food event and festival; information is available on City website. Walk and Talk— Heritage Trail on-site discussion scheduled for June 201h. City contact is Lloyd Purdy. "Meals on Two Wheels" program was mentioned; this part of the program calls for delivery of meals to seniors by bicycle; program has been successful. Tigard Senior Center has information on their website. Downtown Central (2420 Mariposa, next to main post office). ??? #4 (5:22) Walk and Bike To School / Bike Rodeo (Anna) A Bike Rodeo planned for Durham Elementary School on Saturday, May 6th; Western Bike Works is partnering with City SRTS program to deliver event. Rodeo will teach kids bike riding basics. Volunteers are needed to help with instruction and registration forms. Volunteer hours are 10:30 to 3:30. Walk and Bike to School day planned for May 101h. SRTS is encouraging family's to participate in walk and bike to school. Volunteers needed; information is on city website. Transportation PBS Advisory Committee Meeting Notes Pedestrian-Bicycle advisory Sub-committee (PBS) #5 (5:40) Events Update: Bike to Market/Tour De Parks • Bike to Market; discussed logistics with start locations at Metzger and Summer Lake. Would like to see at bike parking at market with local bikeshop-sponsored bike check station, to help with minor bike maintenance for those who ride or participate. • Tour de Parks—event postponed for 2017. #6 (6:07) Street Maintenance Paving Plans (Mike) • Mike shared information on Walnut Street and project waiting for good weather to pave the road. • Rapid Flashing Beacon planned for Fowler Middle school and at 116th. These projects are waiting for better weather. #7 (6:15) Engineering Update: Repaving/construction (Mike) Mike distributed updated list of road construction project in Tigard and provide comments on several of these. #8 ( 6:15) Planning Update (Buff) • May 51" Banks/Vernonia bike ride with city staff is schedule. • Buff shared that city has bike month calendar on its website. • Metro bond measure for Active Transportation projects in all 3 counties. Information is available on Metro website. #10 (6:35) 2017 PBS Workplan Basil mentioned earlier Workplan documents used last several years.
